My Ivy Smart Planter and @ortomirobotics are taking an afternoon siesta. 😴

@daedalusspinningwheels gifted me the most adorably perfect for me holiday present! This is an @ivy_plantsio_official Smart Planter. Based on the plant it lets me know if the plant has too much water or too little water, is it too hot or too cold, is the humidity ideal, and whether or not it’s getting enough light. It’s pretty amazing. My SIL gifted me an adorable succulent pup from one of her many wonderful plants. This little fella keeps me company at my desk.

I’m not 100% on the species/cultivar. It’s thought to be a Zebra haworthia but that doesn’t quite match up. I’m thinking it may be a gasteraloe hybrid of sorts.

Awwwww one my isopods had babies today!!!! I’m not sure which one but there are several baby pods adventuring in the moss. It’s amazing how tiny they are! These are the very first baby pods for my two tanks. I’m eager to watch these little fellas grow up.

Power is back as of last night and we are recovering from the chaos. Spinning, audiobooks, and my isopods kept me entertained while Linhart was working at the office.

This fella is an Oniscus asellus approximately 16mm. It sorta looks like it’s dancing. They handled the power outage a lot better than we did. 😂

I have always been fascinated from a very young age in all sort of critters and buggies. I have fond memories of making race tracks in my sandbox to race Roly-Polies. When @daedalusspinningwheels decided to name their ball winder after them it brought me so much joy!

I decided I wanted to keep some Roly-Polies as pets and here’s their home I made! They are settling in quite well and eating the snacks I’ve left for them.

For as long as I can remember, I have always adored frogs. Oh the stories I could tell about my experiences with frogs… like that one time a toadie lured me into poison ivy… OOPS! Amphibians are such a crucial part of the ecosystem and they have been struggling across the globe for quite a long time. I love to find ways that I can help frogs out and found this beautiful book was being made by @dardomx a conservation and preservation project.

I received this beautiful copy of “The Species Classification Catalog” which is such an amazing reference book to all the varieties of frogs from the Dendrobatidae family including color morphs. The book is better than I had imagined and I’m looking forward to seeing what publications and other goodies they make in the future to help support frogs!

Froggy fabric is the inner lining of a jacket my wonderful Grandma made me. Hand carved froggie spindle by @allenrberry. Anillado frogs made in Huacatinco Peru and purchased from @abbysyarns. Ceramic froggie was a birthday gift several years ago from Linhart. Small resin Ranitomeya variabilis by @ex.oblivione.art.

I’ve been spinning a lot of cotton lately and feeling more and more comfortable with the speeds that Falcon can dish out. I’m currently spinning at 70% which is approximately 2,940 RPM which honestly feels to me quite leisurely when spinning this cotton. It’s incredible to think at max speed this wheel can achieve 4,180 RPM making it the fastest electric spinning wheel out there. I love that even at this speed it’s extraordinary polite. I don’t feel rushed by any means.

This cotton will eventually become a 2 ply warp that I’ll weave the weft with silk. The finished fabric panels will become a poncho. EZSpin Acala Cotton was dyed by @apothefaery

I’ve been pretty busy lately finishing up some spinning and knitting projects. Depending on my mood I’ll either watch a show, listen to a book, or chill to some lo-fi music. I learned about @spiritcitylofi from a crafting group and it’s both adorable and super chill making for a peaceful background while I’m working. They are currently having a Halloween Art Challenge and of course I had to color in my favorite of their spirits the Arachknit. This adorable spider in game IS A BALL OF YARN!!! How could I not incorporate my own handspun yarn to bring to life this cute little spider spirit. I may have to roll up some yarn with the Roly-Poly to create a real live Arachknit.

Slow going over here while I’ve been sick these past 2 weeks. I’m not quite up to my usual daily pace but thankfully I find spinning cotton on my Falcon quite an enjoyable leisurely spin.

The next batch of Falcons will be made in October with an anticipated flight out of in November. Due to its niche nature the Falcon queue is very short and we only build them about twice a year. If you’ve been thinking about getting a Falcon now is a great time to get on the queue!
